Hou Yi and Chang'e

So as you can tell from my previous post I am really into smite. I was interested in the different mythos anyway and smite just strengthened it and incresed my knowledge.

But there are those who are not to keen on Smite (God forbid) but still are interested in the mythology, so I thought every so often I would write about a mythos story, this is also because I like Really liek to talk about such things. It's best to remember that there will be several renditions of the stories.

This story is About the hero Hou YI and Chang'e the Fairie of the moon.

So Hou Yi and Chang'e are both Immortals, they one day both went to the same party. Now Chang'e is a very gracefull dancer and when she was doing her thing at the party Hou Yi just had to get some of that. So like a disney movie they quickly fell in love and married.

Later on the Jade Emporers sons for some reason had become suns in the sky, thats right his S O N S were also S U N S, anyway there was now 10 sons in the sky which was far too many. Crops began to wither up and dry so Hou yi decided he would take them out using a bow, at first he tried to scare them off by simply firing around them, this did not work. So the only other thing he could do is to fire directly at the suns, nine times he fired an arrow and nine times a sun would die and for some reason wierd golden bird things fell down from the suns.



The problem is that it just so happened that the Jade emporer was something of a proud dad so was not very pleased about the whole killing his sons thing, therefore he banished Both Hou Yi and Chang'e from the heavens, because you know they are married so they do everything together.

So Hou Yi and Chang'e were not satisfied with a mortal life on earth, Hou Yi decided he would craft an elixir that would bestow immortality on whoever would drink it and take them to the heavens. Hou Yi made the elixir, enough for two in fact, but before they would drink it Hou Yi decided that it would be better with food so got his priorities in order to go out and the food. While he was out some bandits who had heard about the elixir came to take it for themselves, so Chang'e did the best thing and downed it all in one, but because she drank two portions worth she was blasted past the heavens and to the moon, were she spends all her time hanging out with some rabbit (don't ask me I dont know how it got up ther either).

Top 10: Deities of the Old pantheons

Recentely, over the past month or two, I have gotten into a game called Smite, now I don't ussually like MOBA's but somethign about the way smite did it makes it a really enjoyable game for me. Anyway this list lists my favourite Gods/Godesses based on their playstyle and lore.

10) Chaac, Mayan God of rain

 WARRIOR/MAYAN

One thing I liked about the mayans is that although they kept sacrifising people to make sure the sun comes up everyday, they didn't like it very much, they actually liked the Chaac a lot more because rain is what makes food grow, which in such a hot country rain isn't frequent enough to be annoying.

9) Freya, Queen of the Valkyries

MAGE/NORSE

Now as a class i'm not to fond on mages, or really magic users in most games, Iv'e always preffered up front blade to blade combat than blasting fire balls, yet Freya has a nice mix of the two, her basic attack is close combat but if needed you can make a ranged attack for versatile play.

8) Ne Zha, the third lotus prince

ASSASSIN/CHINESE

Don't be fooled, Ne Zha is a guy. I like Ne Zha Mainly on a playstyle level, I recentely got into the Assassin class and Ne Zha has an ability which gives him a little more staying power which could pottentisally heal him for a majority of his health.

7)Tyr, the lawgiver

WARRIOR/NORSE

Tyr is the first god I "mastered" and I believe what intrigued me about him the most is his great sense for fairness and justice, as well as the huge sword he swings around with ease.

6) Mercury, Messenger of the gods

ASSASSIN/ROMAN

MErcury reminds me a lot of the Flash which is propably why I like him, i just quite like the cocky speedsters. As well as that he has an ability which can be a bit trolly where he sort of runs around them creating a cartoonish tornado and throwing them wherever he wishes, good for throwing enemy gods into towers.

5) Nemesis, goddess of vengenence

ASSASSIN/GREEK

Nemesis originally strated out as part of the warrior class but for whatever reason was moved to the assassin class. She tricked Narcissus (Yes the guy Narcissism is named after) into lookign at his gorgeous reflection for so long that he died of starvation, for revenge or something.

4) Artemis, godess of the hunt

HUNTER/GREEK

As far as her trap ability goes, I believe that Artemis is the most deserving fo the hunter name, she is the godess of the hunt. because of her ability to severaly slow down the enemy once you begin losing to her there is not much chance left if you are on your own.

 

3) Athena, goddess of wisdom

GUARDIAN/GREEK

Athena is the only Guardian I actually like playing, I do respect the class a lot, opting to take all that damage others are unable to withstand, she has some of the highest mobility in the game just because of her ultimates ability to just drop by any ally on the map.

2) Serqet, goddess of venom

ASSASSIN/EGYPTIAN

First of what intrigued me most about Serqet was that one of her outfits was Steampunk themed, Iv'e been kind of wanting to get into steam punk but no idea how to. Now that she is my main assassin mainly because I like to watch people run off thinking their safe, just for the poison I administered to take that last bit of health, exploding the venom onto their allies to start the process anew, hehhehheh.

1) Bellona, Goddess of war

WARRIOR/ROMAN

I like pretty much everything abotu Bellona, Her character is that of a energetic, cocky and strong individual with an amazing set of abilities which makes any hunter cry as their basic attack focus is renedered next to useless, she is also a warrior which has a nice balance of damage and defence, versatility is something I admire and value greatly. Looks wise she is also my favourite, just thought I'd add that.

Anime recomendations

Read the title.

Not in any particular order.

Elemental gelade

This anime isn't very recent, In fact it was pretty much one of the first anime that I saw back when I started REALLY getting into anime. It's story line is filled with action and romance, It just brings up so many feels that I can't explain it just go watch it.

Mirai Nikki

Some of you may know this as future diary. To be honest I haven't completed this one yet but I plan on doing so tonight. It a really good anime as you feelings for characters change quite a bit throughout the series so much you can't remember if you like someone or not.

Haganai

So iv'e re-watched this anime several times and I can never get tired of it. I'd say it's because I feel that I relate to the main character a lot especially towards the end of season 2 but that could be pretentious. Any way all you need to know is that its a light humor anime so is fun to watch.

Tokyo Ghoul

I'm sure that most people would have already seen this, if not then what the hell are you doing? Seriously though It got good action,gore and feels and is an emotional ride to watch, very very worth it.

Damn It feels good to be a... generally hateful person PART 2

This post is here because a friend of mine said he was disappointed I didn't write about him, so this is what this is, enjoy.

This guy, my god what a complete and utter wanker, he is the most scummiest guy I have ever met. If he was any more of a scumbag he would be put under house arrest for life so nobody had to suffer his presence, they would even think about bringing back the death penalty.

Yes that was a Joke, he is a very nice guy who is easy to talk too and a lot of laughs, I do not know him as much as i'd like so there is not any insults I can give him thus far.

Dreamy Eyed

I got to remembering recently, I came across a memory when a friend of mine asked what I'd look for in a girl, mainly what I preferred look wise.

But here is the thing, for a while now, looks have not been that important to me, I mean I would prefer a girl to be good looking but I would go out with someone based on their personality and I'm not just saying that to make the ladies swoon.

Once upon a time I would of gone out with a girl over looks. Well actually I'm pretty sure in a situation as such I'd probably activate my instinctive fight or flight mechanic and find an excuse to leave, avoiding it entirely out of panic.

Looks wise though I'd say one of the most important things for me in a girl is for her to have nice well looked after hair, Not to long and not too short, I find that scruffy shorter hair is what I seem to prefer, also I'm not into blondes that much (at least not 3d ones), I actually have a thing for blue hair, don't know why.

Personality wise, I want a girl that is strong willed, now I don't mean a colossal mouthy b**** who says she is a strong independent women, what I mean is a girl who who can deal with things without making a big fuss and doesn't rely on people to much and doesn't pry to far when not welcome (this may be because of my own hate of help from others). She has also got have a positive outlook on life, I can't stand people who act all sad and depressed over every little thing.

As much as I talk about my "dream" girl the truth is I have never been the type to move anything forward relationship wise, I'm also not the most desirable guy in the world but what are you gonna do, I'd be fine without one anyway.

Damn It feels good to be a... generally hateful person

I felt like ranting again.

I have come to realize recently that my most prominent feelings are anger and annoyed. Also that I tend to be nicer to people I barely know than to my friends I see all the time and know to much about. Our sessions usually include hurling friendly insults st each other. ANYWAY I’m going to complain about my four usual friends (workout who you are).

First friend is a generally cool guy who you can rely on, but my gods he has a problem with addiction, he uses the excuse of “I’m an adult” which he thinks is viable but if you need to make an excuse then that’s generally a sign that its a bad idea, In my eyes using the excuse “I’m an adult” is very childish as only children try to remind people how adult they may be.

Second friend is the a lovely man who will never fail to make me chuckle. However he is never serious, like NEVER it’s hard to get a straight answer out of him and because of such is very unreliable.

Third friend is a nice guy, like me when he gets into a fandom or something he tends to end up knowing a lot about it. He is also very self destructive, he goes on about how he has no future but it’s that very demotivated attitude which is causing it, he’s destroying his own future.

Fourth friend is a very friendly guy. However he is the most contradictory, immature of the four. There are many dickish things he will do to you that he would not tolerate being done to himself, almost as if it’s fine only when he does it. He once threatened a friend by raising his fist and standing over him trying to convince him how not violent he was.

Other than that they do have their good points….OK give me a minute.

Top 10: Only the Avatar can save the world wide web

I am a massive fan of Avatar The last Airbender and the Legend of Korra, Iv'e been in an Avatar stage again recently so I thought I'd make up for that Joke earlier and make a proper top ten (also I have noticed from 8 through to two the images I have chosen seem like they have just had their name called out at an award ceremony or something).

10) Avatar Wan

First up on my list is the original Avatar. Although he potentially doomed the world he also started the cycle of the avatar living on for many a different lives. I also liked his character development, going from troublemaker to seasoned master bender.

9) Amon

Secretive, powerful and a great speech maker, Amon can not help to be cool. His mark gives him the villain like image, his blood bending give him the frightening power he is just to good a villain, he wasn't even properly defeated in combat he merely ran away due to inconvenience.

8) Toph

Toph has what I think is the perfect balance of power and comedy. She is unrivaled when it comes to Earth bending and she is always ready to give off a sarcastic comment or insult an enemy. She also was the first metal bender, so props to that.

7) Zuko

From villain to anti-hero Zuko not only looks the coolest but he has the drive, back story and power to back it up. He is just plainly put a very interesting, if not angsty, character.

6) Korra

The protagonist to the Legend of Korra series, I quite liked the idea of a more hot headed, straight forward avatar and that is what they gave us, her story is filled with riveting tales of adventure, love, and finding ones self.

5) Sokka

I don't really need to describe why I like Sokka. He makes up for his lack of bending with a great wit which we can't help but like. Although he doesn't have any bending he is still highly capable of holding his own thanks to space sword and his trusty boomerang.

4)  Varrick

Varrick takes the top spot for funniest guy in the series. One of my personnel favorite types of humor is stuff that can seem random and eccentric, which is just so happens to be what Varrick is the personification of.

3) Bolin

Another funny character, Bolin isn't funny because of deliberate humor but because of his general behavior and the antiques he gets up too. Also he can lava bend, I called it in book three, I said that he would lava bend as he was not able to metal bend and he did.

2) Iroh

Iroh is like Toph in the sense that he has a good balance of comedy and humor, however his humor ranges in both the comment she makes and his general behavior. What I also like about him is that they lead you to believe that he is some old man that is past his time, then he goes and kicks major ass.

1) Zaheer

This guy is completely different to my other top spots. First of all lets just talk about his sheer skill, he was deemed dangerous enough to put in a specialized prison before he could airbend, just because of his martial prowess, not to mention he quickly mastered his own form of air bending in not long at all and was the second known person to achieve unassisted flight. I also have to agree with him about freedom requiring chaos.

Still Alive

As some of you may have noticed, my presence on my blog, for a while has been all but non existent, well I don't have a good reason for that I just got bored, But alas I have returned with a wealth of knowledge and experience, hahaha as if.

As you may have so cunningly observed I am not writing this post on Tumblr as I said I would do, well the reason for that is that I got bored of it (recurring pattern here).

anyway the real thing I shall be writing about is what my Ideal world would be like. Frankly it would be quite chaotic yet peaceful, angry yet forgiving,  inconvenient yet also strangely convenient. As we all no Chaos and freedom are one in the same one can not live with out the other it is essential as air (My main man Zaheer).

The first thing that comes to mind would be that there would be a serious problem to do with spontaneous combustion, No I'm not Joking. You just be standing with yo friends when suddenly one of them is on fire and the other thing about my world is that people would often not react to much they'd be like "well, Steve is a goner". There would be no reason for the combustion it just happens, but it would be convenient at times like in winter when everyone is super cold, then your burning mess of a friend becomes a nice fore for everyone to stand around.

Generally the world would just be out to ruin your day, it would be the world were saying "at least it isn't raining " will cause it to rain and quite badly. Or you would be going down a zip wire and out of nowhere a tree would grow almost instantaneously for you to crash into.

Of course you realize that this world is simply good for amusement and would be hell to live in, but if it's funny it's probably worth it, at least that what me and my friends say

Weekly Top 10: Imperium of man and their enemies

I don't think iv'e mentioned this but I am a big fan of Warhammer 40K, it's been a while since I last played but I am getting back into it, the background and stories from the 41st millennium are just awesome. This will be my ten favourite 40K races/ species/ armies etc.

 10) Orks

Infamous for their bad grammar and unrefined technology the Orks kick of the list. The thing I like about the Orks is the fact that their is enough of them to obliterate half the universe, but instead they fight who ever comes in front of them even if that enemy is each other, I guess it's lucky that Orks are as Stupid as all hell. WAAAAAAGH!!!

9) Sisters of battle/ Witch hunters

The Sisters of battle make up for the lack of females in other armies and the imperium of man, as a good 99 percent of their forces are female as implied by the name. It appears that their speciality is flame weopons which goes with the name witch hunter quite well.

8)  Tyranids

These guys came out of nowhere, they literally just swarmed in and started eating everything that had flesh. They all work under the same Hive mind controlling their every terrifying move, they can either swarm you or crush you with their Tyrants and carnifexes. It's a pretty nasty way to go being eaten by a tyranid if your not blasted by their bio-weapons.

7) Eldar

Although they caused their own downfall with the birth of the chaos god slaneesh, they have learnt their lesson and dedicate their lives to becoming pure of mind and sin to avoid being swallowed by chaos minions. They used to be the biggest empire ether to walk across the stars.

6) Imperial Guard

The Imperial guard are not in unison as the other armies available as their tactics usually include swarming the enemy with so much manpower that it doesn't matter if you lose some soldiers or blasting the holy hell out of anyone with their basilisks and baneblades. I believe that they have had their names changed to the astra militarum, these are the remnants of man kind  and are some of the best defenders their is.

5) Tau empire

They do not wish to kill or feast (well.. maybe the kroots do), all they truelly want is peace, which is pretty weird in this universe. I would say that their technology looks the most advanced, it isn't but it's still better than the Orks tech. I suppose its the fact that they pursue harmony is what I like about them.

4) Grey Knights/ Demon hunters

Basically the Paladins of the Imperium, If the Witch hunters ignite flames, the Grey knights extinguish the flames of chaos as their name clearly states. All but one of the Grey Knight models is completely bad ass in all forms, what they lack in numbers they make up for in power, also every member is basically a Psyker (psychic).

3) Chaos Space marines

 During the Horus heresy many of the revered space marine chapters left the emperors side and Joined the chaos gods in an attack to wipe out the Imperium, although it ultimately failed. space marines are cool enough as it is so if you give them demon powers, well lets say blood will be spilt. Whether its Khorne, Tzeentch, Nurgle or Slaneesh they always bring something to the table (get it).

2) Dark angels

The first space marine chapter to be founded, the Dark angels are steeped in Mystery and have been given the nickname the unforgiven. They also have their own specialist forces called the ravenwing and deathwing, when you consider that space marines are already specialist units, those guys have to be badass.

1) Dark Eldar

 Finally my top 40K Army is the evil more sinister versions of the Eldar. The Dark Eldar don't fight for peace, conquest or anything like that, just because they like to, the Orks also fight because they like it but the dark Eldar still have a different way of doing things, they enjoy displaying their dominance and watching the pain and suffering of others as their hope slowly fades away from their dismembered bodies. The dark Eldar are also one of the most technologically advanced races, with tank busting weapons such as the haywire grenades or the dark/void lance or the beast slaying poisoned weapons carried by the normal infantry. These guys did not learn from the fall of the Eldar either in fact they carried on with their sins and saw the Eldar gods as week for dying in such a way.

Weekly Top 10: Favourite Star wars characters (In general)

I realise this is really late but I just forgot OK. Anyway this weeks Top 10 is continuing with the star wars theme (as you can tell I'm a massive fan). When I mean favourite character In general I mean that they are not necessarily Jedi or Sith. It is also best to note that since my last star wars top 10 my opinions of certain characters have changed.

10) Han Solo

Solo was instantly one of the fan favourites and was the role which started off Harrison Fords movie career. Other than Piloting this guy has no special skills, but still manages to kick Imperial ass when it is needed. #Hanshotfirst ...Kidding I don't do Hash tags.

9) Darth Vader

I would be willing to bet that Vader is the most recognisable character out their, if not maybe top 10. As badass as Vader is I have to question something, Why is he refereed to as the dark lord of the Sith? Is that title not applied to the master, therefore Sidious. I am also convinced that he would have made a good father if Luke had gone with him willingly.

8) Mara- Jade

The wife to Luke Skywalker, Mara-Jade was originally an imperial agent but after meeting luke would go on to be an esteemed Jedi. I really hope that the rumors are not true, I want Mara-Jade to be in the New Star wars films, they could have been creative and worked the new films around the expanded universe while not using some EU story, you don't just discard the expanded universe ok, that's how you get fanbases angry.

7) Mace Windu

It's hard to get more badass than Master Windu over here. He was the greatest duelist during the clone wars era and his force abilities were not half bad either. He also looked at the seventh form of lightsaber combat, juyo and said I can do better, so he just made his own making up for several of juyos flaws.

6) Darth Maul

Maul is able to take on two of the Jedi Orders greatest duelists (granted one was still of padawan rank) and kill one with some ease, It was only his cockiness that made him lose, without it the Star wars Universe will be very different. Saberstaffs are also My weopon of choice for its incresed defence and option for powerful swings of the lightsaber.

5) Boba Fett

Another Instant fan favourite although when you think back he didn't do much in the movies but be knocked into the sarlaac. I wouldn't really say that either him or his dad convey the general feel of mandalorions but they have their own nice spin to it which makes them nothing but likeable.

4) Obi-Wan Kenobi

Out of the all the Jedi before the Jedi purge (Order 66) Kenobi did the most to take down the sith and C.I.S. He defeated Maul, Grevious and a young Vader which were all master duelists, not to mention he is basically the epiphany of what the Jedi believe in, it is his second nature to act as a Jedi should, under pressure Anakin gets angry, when Kenpbi was losing to maul he focused and won the day.

3) Galen Marek

Just when you though Starkiller was badass enough with his reverse grip, turns out his greatest strength wasn't his combat prowesss but instead it was the force, I mean come on he pulled a star destroyer to the ground while it was in mid flight, not to mention he was put to a standstill against the emporers lightning.

2) Luke Skywalker

Another amazing force user, Luke can't pull a star destroyer out of the sky but he can destro entire armies on his lonesome. As I have mentioned before Luke has very little Jedi training compared to most yet he is able to take down one of the strongest sith lords ether known with not much struggle when he actually attempted to win.

1) Darth Malgus

Now recently I have gotten really into playing the Old republic and the trailers exhibit Malgus' amazing strength. From a acolyte he was taking down Jedi masters and continued to wreap chavok across the galactic republic. What I like about his fighting style aswell is that He clearly uses the strong blows of Shien which would ussually lack mobility but Malgus seems to somehow still be very agile while using it making up for his major weakness.

Weekly Top 10: Lightsaber duels

In accordance with the upcoming star wars day on May 4th I will be doing a star wars themed top 10 both this week and next week. This week is my favourite Lightsaber duels from both the films and game trailers.

10) Ben Kenobi Vs Darth Vader (Episode IV)

The first lightsaber duel of them all. After the prequel came out it changed the mood of this fight as it became a fight between ex friends who were once as close as two war buddies can be, it also showcases the force transcendence mid fight.

9) Luke Skywalker Vs Darth Vader (Epidode VI)

Although the fight itself was not very well choreographed, it helped to illustrate how strong Luke had become, In just a year he became stronger than a force anomaly with 30 years more experience than him. It also shows that inside that dark armour is a good father after all, well not really but you know.

8) Kenobi and Skywalker Vs Dooku (Episode III)

 This is another duel which shows you how far a mere padawan has come, not only in his training but towards the dark side as well. I'm going to illustrate something I don't understand Anakin see's Mace as evil for trying to kill Palpatine but when Palpatine suggests to behead Dooku who was a pawn in Sidious' evil plan he's less bothered by it, wha...why?

7) Dooku Vs Yoda (Episode II)

Originally Yoda was believed to just be good at the force and virtually useless when it came to combat, that was quickly broken when he engaged Dooku showing of his true mastery of the Ataru form jumping and leaping about at a quick pace.

6) Darth Malgus in the retaking of Korriban (Star Wars The Old Republic Return trailer)

Recently I have really come to like Malgus mainly because he is just naturally cool. During the retaking he managed to easily dominate the future grandmaster and even killed her master with relative ease, what is most shocking about this is that he was still an aprentice. His master demise at this event changed that however.

5) Obi-wan Vs Grevious (Episode III)

The General showed us that you don't need to be a Jedi, Sith or even force sensitive to be a master lightsaber duellist, although the lightsaber combat wasn't that long four lightsabers is pretty cool.

4) Mace Windu Vs Palpatine (Episode III)

The best thing about this duel is that it was the greatest duellists from both sides against each other. Because of Windus Vaapad he was feeding off of Palpatines dark side energy making it possible for the match to go on forever if it wern't interpupted by Palpatines ploy to get Anakin to turn.

3) Luke Skywalker Vs Darth Vader (Episode V)

The most Iconic fight in the franchise for obvious reasons. You kind of feel sorry for Vader if you think about it, he eventually works up the courage and tells his son who he is and asks him to live with him, what does Luke do, he refuses to except it and runs (falls) off, Vader must have felt very sad after that.

2) Obi-Wan vs Anakin (Episode III)

This fight is sad in the sense in that their brotherhood has fallen, clearly shown by Kenobi's words of sadness and propably a sense of failure. It also shows how Anakin had truly fallen to the point he would attack his best friend. As a plus note it proves my theory that the overall defence style of Soresu Trumps the brute force style of Djem so.

1) Darth Maul Vs Qui-gon and Obi-wan (Episode I)

 This is what Episode one did right. It was the first duel to be properly choreographed and proudly demostrates the siths power to take down a master and overpower his aprentice, although Maul was killed by Obi-wan that was through Mauls greatest weakness, overconfidence. Also Duel of fates is h=just the best movie song thing ever.
